I am a recent graduate of Abertay University's Computer Games
Applications Development course. I am experienced in C, Unity
and Unreal with a passion for game design. I am looking forward
to starting a career in the computer games industry. Check out
some of my personal work and interests below!
My Work
Throne of the Vulture God
This year I attended a two week 'Sprint' course on level design organised by
Into Games and featuring guidance by games industry professionals such as
Peter Field, a level designer who has worked on series such as Uncharted and
the Last of Us. The showcase video above demonstrates the level concept I
devised for the course using the design techniques and processes I learned.
It was built in Unity.
Procedural Level Generation for Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment
This was a proof-of-concept game I produced to accompany my dissertation.
Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment (DDA) is a term for systems that alter a game to
make it easier or harder depending on how well the player performs. Here, I
combine this concept with procedural level generation to create levels that are
tuned for each player's ability.
This project was developed in Unreal Engine 4 during the 3rd year of my course. It
showcases the base mechanics for a TBS game, allowing for two characters to be moved
around on a grid and attack each other.
From the third year of my course. Built using DirectX and HLSL, it showcases a scene
with visual effects accomplished through the use of several shaders.
As much as I love video games, I'm also a fan of tabletop games. I've played a
wide variety of board games and I also attend a Dungeons and Dragons group at
my local game store.
Writing
In my youth I had a passion for creative writing and I've recently been trying
my hand at it again. My specialty is shortform horror. You can read a sample
of my work below.
